Yurting is freakin' awesome!

If you've never been on a snowshoe adventure 2 miles into the mountains and stayed in a Mongolian-style yurt, I highly suggest you try it! Can you say crazy amounts of fun?!

14 of us braved the sawtooth mountains outside Ketchum, ID (Sun Valley). A beautiful trek to the yurt was followed by a back country adventure for a few of us where we climbed an additional 800ft in altitude for the most glorious untouched powder you've ever seen! After getting our beacons on and shovels packed in case of a possible avalanche, we ventured out to explore the best of Idaho backwoods. It was my first attempt at snurfing (mix of surfing & snowboarding) and boy was it a blast!

The Boulder yurt was a wonderful refuge from the cold and honestly the best and only way to "camp" in the winter in my opinion. It wasn't exactly roughing it as the yurt came equipped with wood stove and propane tank for cooking along with bunks for sleeping. After a great night of games (L,C,R & apples to apples) and tasty winter drinks (can you say vanilla rum & hot chocolate!), we settled in for a host of late night fun. Sorry- what happens at the yurt, stays at the yurt- great stuff!!!

So a huge thank you to everyone who joined us on our first annual yurt trip. I am already looking forward to next year and hopefully many more mini-adventures in between!

Kim, that sounds fantastic! I'm an avid snowshoer, but have yet to venture to a yurt. I think you just inspired me to find one here soon. ;-) Nice weblog, by the way!
